28th April 2007
One of the first episodes that explored a musical genre, Super Afro Beat focused on the funk influenced African music that came out of Nigeria and Ghana in the 60s and 70s.
About the episode
This week its a musical education in the world of afrobeat. But what is afrobeat you say? Mr. Wikipedia he say: "Afrobeat is a combination of Yoruba music, jazz, Highlife, and funk rhythms, fused with African percussion and vocal styles, popularized in Africa in the 1970s." Forget the stigma of world music; this is really good. Really good. Really really good.
You aint never heard any of this stuff before.
